As an Italian, we want respect for other European nations. Italy is separated by the North being industrialized and the South is not, this is making our country weak. We want to be unified. Italy later than supported Germany and became an alliance with them and Austria-Hungary. We demand territory from Austria-Hungary. We feel that Italian people should not live in lands currently ruled by Austrians.

As I was taking an afternoon stroll in Bosnia, I heard two gun shots by a man in black. I had noticed that Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were shot dead while traveling in an open-top car. I'm making the inference that some Slav wasn't happy being under the Archduke's rule. A group of men called the Black Hands planned on doing this act, while only one did the shooting. The man tried shooting the Archduke but missed. Later, while trying to escape for police and pedestrians on a back road, the Archduke and his wife came around and at the right time, two shots, dead.
I was taken back by the fact that the Archduke was shot, I couldn't believe it. But I'm not involved with Austria-Hungary, so I went about my business...

Schiefflin Plan
The central powers planned an invasion called the Schiefflin Plan. Germany was planning on declaring war on Russia, not expecting Russia to put up their army as fast as they did. Germany invaded France through Belgium. Great Britian proposed that if Germany went through Belgium, they would declare war on Germany, and that happend. The Schiefflin Plan backfired and wasn't helpful to the central powers at all.

Italian Battle Plan - WWI
"We shall create a battle plan called the Trench Warfare. We will dig deep trenches and prepare for battle on the front-lines. War is pending, Italy will be fighting in the central powers. I am planning on stocking up on powerful machine guns and tanks for weapons and I am predicting a great victory over the allies..."

Trench Warfare
"It's been almost a month now since war has started. So far...
-Italians dropped the central powers. Allies offered to give us land like we want, so we signed a treaty proposing land for all Italians.
-(Adding this on a later note...) We are now feeling like we aren't getting what was promised... But we're still fighting and hoping for the best. I've already spread the word about our new found territory and not receiving it WILL NOT make my Italian people happy.

It is Christmas... Christmas! We hoped for an easy defeat but he didn't get what we asked for. So everyone involved in the Trench Warfare agreed to halt the war for twenty-four hours. We decorated Christmas trees and hung Chinese lanterns... It was wonderful!
... Twenty-four hours later, back to war.

Russia's Exit
When Russia dropped out of the war, Italy had already dropped the central powers and joined the allies. Russia exiting the war caused a great increase in pressure towards Britian, France, and Italy on battlegrounds.

"THE TRENCH WARFARE ENDED IN STALEMATE!"
Reads local headlines. They are correct. We should have put more thought in the planning process of this battle. We were so close to the alliences (while fighting for central powers) that we could hear them talking! Machine guns being constantly pointed at one another made it hard for a defeat... The Trench Warfare did not end as expected.

Since Russia dropped out of the war, I haven't been able to give annual personal updates. We have done nothing but fighting for our countries the past year or so. The war has been very violent but i'm impressed with the weapons we chose to use... They're extremely dangerous if I might add! I miss my family dearly... Here is a photo I received on Easter of my children. (My wife also included an old photo of her, to be sure i'm thinking of her :)

"CALLED AN ARMISTICE ON WWI!"
Soon there will be a treaty signed to end the war! I get to go home and see my family! I couldn't be happier!

"WAR HAS ENDED!"
Exactly five years after the assination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Treaty of Versailles was signed and i'm going home! Although it took six months to get the treaty in active motion, the war has ended. I speak for the people of Italy and i'm sure my country is happy being out of this war. I feel like we have accomplised something since being in the war. No one knew who would pay the remaining costs of the war, so we all decided to make Germany pay it for starting the war.

I'm home with my family, never been happier. It's also Christmas which i haven't spent a Christmas with my family in years!... Very depressing. My wife and I are so happy to see each other and i'm also a lucky man... She stayed faithful :) My kids are wonderful as well. Mission accomplished.

Go Italy!
